What We Do

The Pad Programme is working towards sustainable menstrual health and hygiene in schools and communities in Uganda, starting with Mityana District we are building sustainable communities. Uganda cannot achieve the SDGs without full participation of women and girls in societies and economics. We believe in girl empowerment and we love to see all girls and women succeed, mostly through education and business, to be lifted up from poverty.

The Pad Programme comprehensive, effective MHM response has the following main components;

Distribution of MHM materials (MHM Kits) and supportive items to girls and women in schools and communities.

This includes materials such as pads, cloth and underwear to absorb the menstrual flow and items to support use, washing, drying and disposal.

Providing information on menstruation and hygiene to girls and women in schools and communities.

This includes basic information on the process of menstruation (especially for adolescent girls), demonstration with any distribution of MHM items (on their use, care, disposal, etc.) and staying healthy (personal hygiene).

Advocating for Private, safe and appropriate WASH facilities in schools and communities.

This includes facilities and infrastructure for changing used materials, washing and drying cloth, reusable pads and underwear, bathing and disposing of sanitary items and wastewater.

We believe that no girl should miss school, just because they are on their periods. Stand with girls without access to the essential sanitary materials. Donate a sanitary kit to a girl in need today.

The Pad Programme (TPP) is working to improve education and information about menstruation directly with adolescents in their schools and communities, through our volunteers.

The Pad Programme is fighting period poverty in schools to increase girls attendance in schools because dropping out of school decreases their likelihood of escaping the cycle of poverty and increases their chances of early marriage and motherhood.
